Newcastle 'agree' deal for first summer transfer as Eddie Howe prepares to splash cash

Newcastle aren't wasting any time preparing for next season and have already agreed a deal for their first signing of the summer transfer window, according to reports.The Magpies are flush with cash following their takeover by the Public investment Fund of Saudi Arabia in October, and manager Eddie Howe isn't afraid of spending it.

Howe brought in five new arrivals to the tune of just over £100million during the January transfer window, with Brazilian star Bruno Guimaraes the pick of the bunch at £37million.And with the club's Premier League safety looking more assured by the week, the Magpies have agreed a deal to sign on loan left-back Matt Targett on a permanent basis.

That is according to Chronicle Live, who report that Newcastle have an option turn his deal into a permanent move with a fee of around £15million already agreed between Aston Villa and the Magpies.Targett has impressed since swapping Villa Park for St James' in January, making four appearances as the Toon Army have climbed away from relegation danger.
