The Newcastle takeover is almost completed now as the deposit for the £300m deal has been paid. All relevant paperwork has also been signed with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund set to secure their 80 per cent stake in the club.
Yasir Al-Rumayyan, who is the governor of the PIF, is set to become the new chairman of Newcastle once the takeover is finalised.
He is also the chairman of Saudi Aramco, which is the world’s largest oil company, and he also sits on the board at Uber. Al-Rumayyan speaks fluent English and is a close associate of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who is backing the buy-out.
