NASA’s Center for Near Earth Object Studies has identified a giant asteroid hurtling towards Earth at speeds of up to 28,500mph.
The US Space administration first observed the asteroid, dubbed 438908 (2009 XO), on December 9 2009 and has been keeping an eye on it ever since.
The giant space rock is estimated to be a whopping 110m to 450m wide, which is nearly 1,500ft across. To put that into context, the space rock could be anywhere between the size of the London Eye to bigger than the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai.
The asteroid is currently travelling at 12.77 kilometres per second, which is roughly 28,565mph. Asteroid 438908 (2009 XO) is expected to safely rocket past Earth on Fri 7 May at 5.18pm British
