Four asteroids are set to rocket past Earth tomorrow in a series of close fly-bys, NASA has confirmed. The giant space rocks are travelling up to 57,000 mph – and the first will skim Earth at around 7.15am on Saturday.
NASA has classed the group of asteroids as near-Earth objects and is keeping a watchful eye on them. The largest of the bunch is as tall as the Empire State Building and will fly high above Earth at around 11pm tomorrow.
NASA predicts the first asteroid, called 2020 GM1, will pass Earth at a distance of 2.3 million miles. It places the asteroid at around nine times the distances between Earth and the Moon.
