A giant asteroid measuring a whopping 4km wide is expected to fly pass Earth today but it could potentially have wiped out civilisation if it had hit, a space expert has claimed.
The mega rocky object, known as 1998 OR2, is t ravelling at an astonishing 31,000 kilometres per hour at a distance of 6.2 million kilometres from Earth.
Speaking on BBC 's Radio 4, Dr Ezzy Pearson, news editor at Sky at Night magazine was asked what would happen if the 1998 OR2 hit Earth.
