Bombshell findings prove the Moon is more than just dusty barren space rock and may instead be constantly shape-shifting. Researchers from Brown University have discovered a system of curious ridges spread across the nearside of the Moon topped with freshly exposed boulders.
It's believed the images are evidence the planet's crust shifts over time, just like it does on Earth, causing regular 'moon quakes'.
Infrared images from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter show strange bare spots where banks of Moon's grey dust appears to have shifted without explanation, suggestive of an active tectonic process at play.
