Diana Thomas's gardening project has left her feeling like a 'sweaty, stubbly geezer'... and reminded her of the parts of her that are male I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my time, some so recent that the wounds to my heart are still bleeding.
But high on the much shorter list of things I’ve got right is buying my current home. From my perch at the kitchen table, I look to the west, over a gravelled forecourt across which a cock pheasant is having a morning stroll, past a wild-flower meadow, fields and woods to a line of forest-covered hills.
To the north, I can see the picturesque roofs and chimneys of the cottages attached to the beautiful, 350-year-old country house whose entire attic floor I occupy.
