A man who tragically lost his mother to cancer after she was initially misdiagnosed is remembering her in a special way. Simon Greenfield, 47, lost his mum Susan Greenfield, 62, to bowel and liver cancer in September 2019.
She had initially been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in 2016 before it was confirmed that she had bowel and liver cancer in October 2018, Grimsby Live writes.
Simon, from Grimsby, was left heartbroken when she passed away. He said: "It was an overwhelming experience to lose my mum."It was like having your heart ripped out.
I just didn't know how to get through it."She was such a kind and loving person. Her passing really affected our family."I remember being sat in the waiting room and was hoping to see her again before she had her operation to remove the cancer from her liver."We were told that the liver never fully recovered unfortunately.
