As one of five children, Summer Shillingford always knew she wanted a big family. So she was close to despair when all attempts to have her first child proved fruitless.
Yet there was always hope. And after one miscarriage, two ectopic pregnancies and seven failed IVF attempts she finally gave birth to her daughter Violet, who is now six. “She was such a great baby – it was a dream come true,” says Summer, 42.
But having Violet only made her long for more children to make up the large family she always hoped she would have. So she and her partner Davidson Shillingford, 52, set off on another heartbreaking parenthood journey.
