A mum and her tiny baby both battled to stay alive as a series of ordeals struck them in the weeks after her birth. Mhairi Mornin and little Demi both survived the harrowing weeks after she was born prematurely weighing just 3lb 4oz.
Mum-of-four Mhairi was so afraid she was going to die she sent a loving message to her children telling them to always remember how much she loved them.
She said: "It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life, but I knew I was so ill I might not survive. "I needed my kids to know how much I loved them and I was fighting with everything I had to see them grow up."
