Scots mum battles Covid-19, sepsis and burst gallbladder as 3lb premature baby fights for life

Covid-19, sepsis and a burst gallbladder while her tiny baby also fought to survive has praised hospital staff for saving their lives.

Mhairi Mornin was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley when she was 30 weeks pregnant after suffering several complications.

Little Demi, who weighed just 3lb 4oz, was born by emergency caesarean but the duo’s fight for life was just beginning after Mhairi began showing symptoms of coronavirus.

Just hours later, the 35-year-old from Renfrewshire, began experiencing excruciating stomach pains which medics discovered were caused by a burst gallbladder.
