A mother and her lover killed a two-year-old boy after leaving him with 39 fractures, a court heard today. Phylesia Shirley and Kemar Brown are accused of murdering Kyrell Matthews at her home in Thornton Heath, south London.
Prosecutors say Kyrell was injured on five occasions between two hours and four weeks before his death on October 20. Pathologists recorded the official cause of death as blunt force trauma.
