Motherwell No.2 Stephen Frail has targeted a win over Queen’s Park today that could see them qualify for the next stage of the Viaplay Cup.But he says all of it is progression towards being ready for their Premiership opener at Dundee on August 5.Motherwell top Group G, level on five points with East Fife, with the Bayview club visiting Fir Park next weekend for a showdown that may determine who ultimately qualifies.Frail hopes for a good, exciting game in front of a big crowd, and admits he has been impressed with Robin Veldman’s side.He said: “The first aim is to top the group and it’s progression to the Dundee game, which is the first league game of the season, but we want to progress in this cup.“I really like the format of these games being very competitive this early in the season.“It gets you up to speed early and if we win hopefully that will guarantee us progression in the competition and one that we hope to go reasonably far in.“I think it will be very interesting if Queen’s Park play the same way that we saw last week against Livingston in the friendly game.“People are probably well aware now of the style of play they’re trying to adopt, very aggressive, very possession-based, the way they try to build everything from the back.“They’re an exciting team to watch, I actually quite enjoyed watching the game against Livingston.“It was a game that they lost, but I thought they were excellent in it, so we know where their threats will be.“We need to make sure we counter that and play the way we know we can play when we’re in possession.”Frail says being in front of a Fir Park crowd for the first time in the competition and this season is important.He said: “It was a fantastic end to last season.
