Michael Schumacher "immediately came to mind" of F1 world champ after son Mick's crash

F1 world champion Mika Hakkinen has revealed he immediately thought of Michael Schumacher after his son Mick suffered a horrific crash during qualifying at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.People feared the worst when the young Schumacher lost control over the curb and went crashing into Turn-12.

His Haas car was then flung into barriers on either side of the track before he remained seated in the cockpit for what seemed an eternity.Fortunately, the 23-year-old was declared conscious after ambulance services appeared on the scene and he was airlifted to hospital for further checks.

But while Schumacher was lucky to walk away with just minor injuries on Saturday, two-time world champion Hakkinen was reminded of two traumatic incidents.The first was the 53-year-old’s own dance with death at the 1995 Australian Grand Prix.

There, he cracked his skull following impact with his steering wheel, which Schumacher’s crash brought back painful memories of."At that time, there was no HANS headrest in use and no shields next to the helmet," Hakkinen explained. "Then the neck will flutter, and the brain will sway, and there may [have been] a bad injury, as it happened to me.
