As Marbella gears up to reopen its tourist industry local police will be using drones, jet skis and a mobile phone app to keep a watchful eye on the number of people sunning themselves.
The network of technology is in place to prevent overcrowding and avoid a deadly outbreak of coronavirus among tourists on the Malaga resort’s 23 golden beaches.
The Marbella city council has said that the local beaches will be watched over for seven hours a day from Une 1 between 11am and 7pm or 12am and 8pm depending on the activity during the summer.
The beaches of Marbella, which is in the province of Malaga in the southern autonomous community of Andalusia in Spain, opened today.
