A Man Utd coach is said to have privately bemoaned the lack of quality in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad before the Red Devils crashed out of the Europa League.
Solskjaer watched on from the sidelines as his team were beaten 2-1 by Sevilla in the semi-finals of the competition despite dominating much of the tie.
United missed several chances to score before falling behind with just under a quarter of an hour left to play. But Solskjaer's lack of faith in his squad was evident as he failed to make a substitution until the dying minutes.
And a report from The Times suggests that one of United's coaches openly admitted the club does not have enough talent on the bench to make a difference.
