Man who thought coronavirus was hoax begs for forgiveness after wife gets it and dies

A taxi driver who believed conspiracy theories claiming coronavirus was a hoax has urged people not to be foolish like he was after his wife died from the deadly bug.

Brian Lee Hitchens and wife Erin, a pastor in Florida, believed the wild and dangerous conspiracy theories circulating on social media and did not seek medical help when they then both contracted the bug - despite Erin being at risk from Asthma and a sleeping disorder.

Brian told the BBC in July he and his 46-year-old wife had read that Covid-19 was fabricated or only as bad as the flu. They had also read the bizarre claims about the virus being linked to 5G technology.
