The Newcastle Chronicle report Dimmick then drove at speeds of up to 60mph in a residential 30mph zone during a chase lasting around three minutes.
As he tried to make a right-hand turn in Newsham, Blyth, he lost control due to his excessive speed and collided with a low garden wall on First Avenue.The car ended up in the front garden and Dimmick ran off.At 6.44am, he called the police to report he had been involved in the crash.Officers went to his home at Elm Trees, Blyth, which is where he gave the account of what had happened to his friend.Dimmick, who has 39 previous convictions, including for robbery in 2017 and theft in 2019, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, failing to stop, having no insurance, driving.
