An official investigation by a police watchdog launched after a GMP officer Tasered a man in front of a young child at a petrol station could take up to six months to conclude, the force's chief constable has said.Mobile footage of the incident involving Desmond Ziggy Mombeyarara, 34, in Stretford on May 6 was shared widely on social media.Police later said the child was taken to a safe place.Ian Hopkins, the chief constable of Greater Manchester Police, told MPs on Wednesday that probes by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) should be carried out far more quickly.Mr Hopkins said he saw the footage the morning after it was made public and 'immediately' referred the case to the watchdog.But Mr Hopkins, who described the footage.
