A man in his 40s has died after being pulled from the sea near a popular tourist beach. The casualty got into difficulty just off Porthcurno, Cornwall, near the Minack Theatre, police said in a statement.
Emergency services were called around 12.40pm yesterday, and despite desperate rescue efforts, he could not be revived. Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We received reports at 1.30pm yesterday afternoon of a male in difficulty at Pedn Vounder Beach. "Despite the best efforts of members of the public and lifeguards sadly the man couldn't be revived. "Next of kin have been informed and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
