Argentine starlet Thiago Almada would prefer a move to Manchester City rather than neighbours Manchester United as his idol is Carlos Tevez, according to reports.

Almada is the latest prospect in his homeland to be dubbed the 'new Lionel Messi' and the teenage playmaker is already a regular for Velez Sarsfield, scoring five goals in 25 appearances this season.

MEN Sport reported last summer that City were closing in on a deal to sign Almada but he eventually signed a new contract to remain at Velez.

Now the 19-year-old is again being linked with a move and, according to The Sun, City are confident of finally getting a deal concluded.
