Foden has been a key part of the under-21s for the last 18-months, but England boss Gareth Southgate had challenged him to get regular playing time in the Premier League before being considered for a debut senior call-up.But after a number of impressive performances for City towards the end of last season, Foden was rewarded with a place in Southgate's Nations League squad and then a start against Iceland.
