Gareth Southgate fears England’s World Cup qualifying campaign could be left in serious jeopardy by a growing fixture pile-up.
Southgate admits that England’s path to the 2022 tournament in Qatar already looks very “complicated” because their qualifiers will start in March just at a time when big clubs are chasing trophies.
That is certain to annoy clubs and affect call-ups amid an already overcrowded fixture list because of the coronavirus pandemic which has left both UEFA and FIFA facing a potential nightmare.
