City did not have a break between the end of their Premier League campaign and their last-16 showdown with the La Liga champions, but with the manager keen to keep things in-house there were no external friendlies organised.
Instead, the club's second team were asked to set up as Real Madrid with new Under-23s assistant coach Danny Walker overseeing the youngsters as they were tasked with helping Guardiola and his players work through different scenarios. "We were Real Madrid so we did a great job!" laughed Walker.
