A man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after an elderly couple were left injured in a crash on Hyde Road on Tuesday (February 27).
The victims, whose age has not been confirmed, were rushed to hospital from the scene after a collision with another vehicle beside Debdale Park at around 3pm.
The driver, a man in his 40s, who was also taken to hospital to be treated for injuries, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and remains in custody to be questioned in relation to the incident. Hyde Road was taped off by police following the collision as paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service and crews from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service descended on the scene.
The crash, at the junction with Debdale Lane, caused major traffic delays in the area through rush hour, with bus services also diverted into Tuesday night.
