Man arrested for murder after wife's 'suspicious' texts said she had coronavirus

A husband has been accused of using coronavirus as a cover to hide his estranged wife's sudden disappearance. Gretchen Anthony, 51, vanished from her home last month, just weeks after filing for divorce from her husband David.

After Gretchen was reported missing, relatives told police they'd received suspicious text messages from her phone, claiming she had a serious case of coronavirus.

One text claimed Gretchen was being "held" at a local clinic in Florida, while another stated that she'd been transferred to hospital and had been placed on a ventilator.

But when family members contacted the clinic and hospital for more information, they were told nobody with the name Gretchen Anthony had been admitted, the Washington Post reports.
