The M62 has been closed in Cheshire tonight due to a 'police incident'. Both carriageways of the motorway were closed between junctions 8 and 9 near Warrington shortly after 9pm on Sunday.

The motorway remained closed tonight while Cheshire Police deal with an incident. National Highways North West tweeted about the closure earlier tonight, stating: "The #M62 in #Cheshire is closed in both directions between J8 and J9 due to a @cheshirepolice led incident." The emergency services are at the scene.
