Edinburgh, was closed heading westbound while they dealt with the incident. The blaze was in the trailer of an articulated lorry after the brakes caught fire.
It's understood the lorry was not carrying hazardous materials.One fire engine initially raced to the scene but two further crews had to be called in to get the flames under control.It's understood no one was injured in the incident and the vehicle is being recovered this morning.
A Police Scotland spokesman said on Sunday night: "Emergency services are currently dealing with a road traffic incident on the A71 near to Dalmahoy Hotel.
