A long-established Dumfries pub is up for sale at offers around £200,000. Slipstream Bar boss Jacque Dickson, 61, said: “It’s time for me to hang up my boots.” The pub has been in the family for 35 years and now Jacque wants to retire from the business.

She said: “I always said when I got to this age I would retire. I feel 90, but I’m actually 61. It was my brother Andy’s baby. “The pub life is a changing game and, personally for me, I feel the time is right. “I can spend time having fun, do what I want, see my sisters or whatever.

So that’s it, time to go. I’ve been there 25 years.” The English Street business is being marketed by Glasgow-based Shepherd Chartered Surveyors.

The sale advert states: “The reputable and recently refurbished public house featuring an entrance vestibule, open-plan bar area, rear snug and two customer toilets arranged over the ground floor, together with an office, beer cellar, and storage in the basement. “There is a large servery within the main bar area, together with a small private servery in the rear snug. “The property occupies a prominent town centre position, around 175 yards from the pedestrianised High Street, and lies within one of the main districts for local leisure trade. “Free public car parking is available nearby, with public transport links and private taxi ranks also set within a short walking distance.” Fraser Carson, of Shepherd, said: “The business currently trades as a limited company, with fixtures and fittings included as part of the proposed sale.
