Day6 have announced new stops for their ongoing world tour ‘Forever Young’, with shows in Oceania, US and more.On October 30, Day6 announced six new 2025 shows added to their ongoing ‘Forever Young’ world tour. The Korean band added shows in the Oceanic region, specifically Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland, as well as two shows in Los Angeles and New York in the US on top of a remaining Asia show in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.The tour kicked off late last month with a three-night residency at Incheon’s Inspire Arena from September 20 to 22.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Chinese artist and filmmaker Qiu Jiongjiong has begun production of “Fuxi,” his second feature film, following an acclaimed debut with 2021’s “A New Old Play.” The film expands on Qiu’s use of history and folklore and uses food as a through-line to explore a narrative that blends myths, legends, literature and folk tales. The title is a blend of the Chinese words for ‘food’ and ‘joy’ and the setting is a circus tent where a ragtag film crew is busy shooting a gourmet movie. The narrative is told in four chapters, through four festivities and tells a tale that that involves the living, the dying, the dead, and the very long dead.

Naman Ramachandran The Philippines‘ QCinema International Film Festival has locked its 12th edition lineup, with Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s “Cloud” — Japan’s submission for the 97th Academy Awards — set to close the November event. The festival opens with “Directors’ Factory Philippines,” an eight-filmmaker omnibus collaboration with Cannes Directors’ Fortnight that pairs Filipino directors with counterparts from across Asia.

Screenworks Asia has picked up international rights to the second season of award-winning Taiwanese drama series The World Between Us and will commence sales at MIPCOM. 

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief New York-based Obluda Films has boarded the long-in-production sci-fi detective film “Resurrection,” being directed by mainland Chinese auteur Bi Gan. Obluda will join as co-producer and co-financier of the picture that counts mainland pop star-turned-leading actor Jackson Yee and Taiwan’s Shu Qi, as the lead cast. Another New York-based indie producer Jonathan Daniel Brown, of Party Crasher Films, will also join the partnership for the upcoming film. After completing part of its shooting schedule, “Resurrection” is set to resume filming in the fourth quarter of this year.

Max is to launch in seven markets across Asia on November 19.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief GrX Studio has set its sights on an international expansion that matches its leading position within Taiwan’s film and TV production industry. At a fast-paced event on Monday held on the margins of the Busan International Film Festival, the company detailed plans to invest some $45 million over five years into 15 Mandarin-language series and five horror films through a new fund. The launch event also included a roster of current shows from the group, which was formerly known as Greener Grass Productions. It was previously responsible for “Copycat Killer,” a series which has performed strongly for streaming giant Netflix. Taiwan actor Ning Chang and Vietnam actor Lien Binh Phat from “The Outlaw Doctor,” a crime series which is now in post-production and which GrX co-produced with Public Television Service Foundation (PTS) and Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), and Korean celebrity Jinyoung and Taiwan actress Moon Lee from “The Photo from 1977.” The title is a romance film facilitated by the Hakka Affairs Council, with script development supported by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) and is part-funded by the Hakka Public Communication Foundation. Other titles confirmed at the event included: a horror film “Trapped in Yellow”; a boys’ love (BL) feature film “Wild With You,” produced by Golden Bell Awards-winning producer Phoebe Ma; and the thriller series “The Ones I Killed and the Ones Who Killed Me,” that is currently in development and is adapted from the popular Japanese novel by Akira Higashiyama. An historical series set in Taiwan and Japan, titled “KOHAKU: The Traitor of the Night,” is to be directed by Lien Yi-chi and Kentaro Hagiwara.

They are to be co-produced by his Taipei-based Flash Forward Entertainment. Directed by Shen Ko-Shang (“Two Juliets”), “Deep Quiet Room” is a feature film.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Comedy-horror “Dead Talents Society” picked up 11 nominations for the Golden Horse Film Awards, making it the most acclaimed title among the 169 films in contention for the prestigious Chinese-language prizes. “Yen and Ai-Lee” and “Bel Ami” both received eight nominations, putting them in a tie for second place. Recent Venice competition film “Stranger Eyes,” from Singapore’s Yeo Siew Hua received six. Five films compete for the best narrative features award: John Hsu’s “Dead Talents Society,” Ray Yeung’s “All Shall Be Well,” Lou Ye’s “An Unfinished Film,” Geng Jun’s “Bel Ami” and “Stranger Eyes.” The same five also contest the best director award. Nominees for best leading actor are: King Jieh-wen (“A Journey in Spring”), Chang Chen (“The Embers”), Yau Hawk-sau (“The Way We Talk”), Wanlop Rungkumjad (“Mongrel”) and Zhang Zhiyong (“Bel Ami”).
