Former president Jimmy Carter’s funeral services involved a few steps that led up to Thursday, Jan. 9. Following a funeral in his home state of Georgia Jan. 4, the 39th President of the United States’ casket arrived in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, Jan. 7 followed by a procession to the U.S. Capitol, the Rotunda service and the start of the lying in state.

The State Funeral of former President Jimmy Carter will take place over nearly a week, including several public viewings in Atlanta and Washington.
