Jimmy Carter State Funeral To Take Place From January 4-9 In Atlanta, Washington And Plains, GA
deadline.comThe State Funeral of former President Jimmy Carter will take place over nearly a week, including several public viewings in Atlanta and Washington.
Carter, the 39th president of the United States, died on Sunday at age 100. Read the Jimmy Carter state funeral schedule. The funeral will begin on Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
ET with the arrival of the Carter family at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. Current and former special agents of his Secret Service detail will carry his remains and walk along the hearse as it leaves the medical center.
The motorcade then will travel through Carter’s hometown of Plains, with a brief pause at his boyhood home at 10:50 a.m., where the National Park Service will salute him by ringing the farm bell 39 times.
