Sports star was 'barefoot and soaking wet' when killed by train after trip to watch darts
darts in London, an inquest heard.Talented teenager Connor Marron, 19, had been to see the PDC World Darts championship at Alexandra Palace in north London in the hours before his death in January this year. The grieving parents of the junior national snooker champion and Gaelic footballer have pleaded for police to find out why he was barefoot and soaking wet at the time of his death.University student Connor had been in London to watch the darts on New Year's Day, the inquest was told. His parents Fergal and Sharon Marron, who appeared at the North London Coroner's Court hearing via video link on Thursday, say they believe the only reason he may have entered a nearby stream, lost his trainers and "tiptoed" onto the rail track was because he was "trying to get away from something".Connor, of Ballymena in County Antrim, was fatally struck by a train between Alexandra Palace and Hornsey railway stations in the early hours of January 2.A friend gave evidence saying that after attending the darts Connor went back to the venue to seek his iPhone which had lost battery throughout the day.The inquest was adjourned today because British Transport Police (BTP) officers had been unable to obtain CCTV footage or evidence from when Connor was last seen by his friend to when he was struck by the train.Connor, a second year student studying human resources at Ulster University, had made his first trip to London to see the darts.
