Elizabeth Day’s How to Fail podcast, the 53-year-old TV star and bestselling author described his addiction as “running away from your pain”.“Alcoholics will tell you the same, like it’s absurd that there’s a bottle of vodka in front of you or there’s a packet of crisps in front of you and it’s more powerful than you,” he said. “It makes no sense.”Osman, who stepped down from the BBC gameshow Pointless in 2022, went on to describe his addiction as the “drumbeat” of his life.“We’ve all got human minds and we’re all crazy in slightly different ways.

'Have great doubts' Chef Delia Smith, 80, candidly opens up on not having children
How To Fail with Elizabeth Day, released today, Delia said why she did not have children.She said: "Although I don't have children, it's never really bothered me, and I have great doubts about whether I would have been a good parent."I really have doubts about that."Elizabeth then asked Kate whether she got stuck into her work because she felt that she needed to leave a contribution because she did not have children.She replied: "That isn't something that's ever been a problem."And if I had [that] problem I would go and adopt an unwanted baby."I wouldn't mind doing that now but I'm too old."Delia continued: "Somebody who shall be nameless said that one of the things that was missing was that because I hadn't had children I didn't understand how to feed children."Not at all, my cookery course was in the school curriculum."Delia also spoke to The Mail on Sunday in 2009 about why she never had children.She said: "It wasn’t to be, but I have loved what I’ve been able to do by not having children."Maybe one of the reasons I’ve been so successful in my career is down to the fact I haven’t had any children."I think if I’d had a family, I would have gone wholeheartedly into being a mother."Delia's first television appearance was in the early 1970s, as a resident cook on BBC East's regional magazine programme.Following the success, she was offered her own cookery show, Family Fare which ran between 1973 and 1975.Her 1995 book Delia Smith's The Winter Collection sold 2 million copies in hardback, becoming the fifth biggest-selling book of the 1990s.In February 2013 she announced that she had retired from television cookery programmes, and would concentrate on offering her recipes online.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are stalwarts on ITV's This Morning but the partnership came close to never happening.Fern Britton announced she was stepping down from the show after a decade in March 2009.Her announcement sparked a frantic rush to find her replacement.Phillip previously said how he was disappointed that Fern was leaving after all they had achieved together on the show.He said he was looking forward to launching the new series in six months time with a new partner.Phillip explained Holly was "at the top of everybody's list to pick up where Fern leaves off" after filling in for Fern a few months prior to that.Oh his website in July 2009, Phillip explained: "She filled in a few months ago and, from that moment on, everybody knew she was the obvious number one choice."But it has been alleged by Holly the only reason she got the role was because of Phillip determinedly singing her praised to show bosses - after she heard cruel comments about her taking on the role.The pair had already formed a close bond while presenting Dancing On Ice for three years.But Holly, who had mainly worked in kids' TV prior, reckoned critics believed she wouldn't be able to handle the different format of the breakfast show and wouldn't be able to "interview a Prime Minister".Holly explained on Elizabeth Day's podcast How To Fail in November last year: "If it wasn’t for Phil, I wouldn’t be on This Morning now because everyone around him at the time when he suggested my name, were like, 'What? No!
