Rylan Clark has shared a heartfelt message to his friend Lucy Spraggan after she revealed that she was raped during her time on The X Factor back in 2012.

The singer, 31, has now opened up about the horrific experience in her upcoming memoir Process: Finding My Way Through, and on an episode of the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast ahead of the book's release.

Lucy, who was 20 at the time, was out with a number of her fellow X Factor contestants to celebrate Rylan's 25th birthday on the night the attack occurred.

After "passing out" Lucy returned back to the hotel, where she was helped back to her room by a hotel porter flipped the security latch on her door so that it would remain unlocked.
