TV presenter Lorraine Kelly has opened up about a lifelong regret in her marriage. The 64 year old is mum to 29 year old Rosie with husband Steve Smith, but wishes they'd had more children.
She previously admitted they tried for another baby but sadly suffered a miscarriage in 2000. On the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast last year, Lorraine confessed: "I failed!" She admitted: "I think we just sort of ran out of time, and that was the thing I think I failed." She explained they thought conception would happen naturally, and therefore failed to consider IVF or surrogacy.
Despite facing their tragic setback, Lorraine warmly spoke about her only daughter, calling her an "amazing girl". The star explained: "I have got an amazing girl but there are times when I wish we'd been able to have another one." She added: "How lucky am I to have an amazing daughter that still likes me? [It's] lovely, but I would have loved to have had more kids - boys, girls, whatever, I don't care!" During her ITV show, Lorraine previously revealed she still thinks about the baby she lost.
Speaking about her past miscarriage, she shared: "It's still there, because you still think that baby would've been 21... You're sort of mourning for something that didn't happen and that's very sad to do." Lorraine also admitted that people's attempts to comfort her often made her feel "worse".
