Prince George’s birthday tradition started by Diana that Prince William 'struggles with'
Princess Diana. The People's Princess reportedly loved to give children gifts that were noisy and tricky for their parents to assemble. It was typical of the cheeky and fun-loving nature of the princess who once gave her then teenage son William a birthday cake in the shape of a pair of boobs.Following her tragic death in August 1997, Diana's long-time friend Julia Samuel decided to carry on her pal's tradition.Godmother to both Prince George and Prince William, Ms Samuel described how she still buys 'impossible' toys for the family that William then spends days attempting to put together with cautious assembling. It may not especially please George's parents, but is all in good spirits.Ms Samuel said: “I do to George what [Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making.“I come in slightly tipped by the size of the present that William then has to spend days putting together."And then put all the machinery together and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that. That makes me laugh and it makes George laugh."The traditional noisy homage to Diana is expected to take place again this year on July 22 when Prince George celebrates his ninth birthday. The young royal - third in line to the throne - was born at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on July 22, 2013.He was introduced to the world the following day when he was just over 24 hours old.Ms Samuel said George is amazing, funny, feisty and cheeky."God she [Diana] would have loved him so much.

Prince George's hilarious birthday tradition inspired by Princess Diana
Prince George is no different. He is turning nine years old today (July 22) and in celebration there is one tradition set by Princess Diana that the Royal Family enjoys – except for Prince William.George has enjoyed a whirlwind of a childhood, being born into one of the most famous families in the world. He has also been caught in the middle of the public eye since his birth, as millions have seen him grow from a baby, through school and into the young royal he is now.Born in 2013, he was the focus of media attention even before his birth because the government introduced a Succession to the Crown Bill in the House of Commons to help end sex discrimination. It meant that no matter the sex of the first-born in the Royal line of succession, they would grow up to take the throne, male or female. In the end it made no difference for George, but even though he is a trend-setter in that regard, he certainly keeps to some traditions, especially for his birthday. The tradition actually started with Princess Diana and has been continued by her close friend and the future king’s godmother, Julia Samuel. Each year, she buys George an ‘impossible’ gift, one that William will then spend the next few days painstakingly assembling. She said: "I do to George what [Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making."William then has to spend days putting together.
