Bayern Munich’s latest signing Leroy Sane will take Philippe Coutinho’s No.10 shirt next season, suggesting Coutinho could be on his way out.
Bosses at the Bundesliga champions have given the prestigious squad number currently worn by Coutinho to Sane, the outgoing Manchester City winger, whose £44.7million-plus move back to his native Germany was confirmed on Friday.
Sane personally decided not to use the No.10 shirt in his official signing portrait on Thursday “out of respect” for Coutinho, Bayern indicated.
Coutinho “indicated his full understanding” of the decision, according to the club, and he will keep his old number for Saturday’s German Cup final and any Champions League games in August.
