The Mayor of Leicester was forced to apologise after he broke lockdown rules to visit his girlfriend and stay at her house overnight.
The story, which broke a fortnight ago, reemerged on social media after the city was put into lockdown following a spike in coronavirus cases.
Non-essential shops have shut and schools across the city will be closed to most pupils. Announcing measures for the lockdown last night Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Leicester had "10% of all positive cases in the country over the past week".
But last month Sir Peter Soulsby apologised after admitting to breaking lockdown rules. Sir Peter, 71, flouted the lockdown to go and see his partner and carry out work on her home, he admitted.
