King Charles was reportedly left "crushed" after being given just a 20-minute heads up about the public announcement of Prince Harry's relationship with Meghan Markle.The then-Prince of Wales was in the midst of preparing for a meeting with the King of Bahrain during a sensitive tour in the Persian Gulf state in November 2016.
Royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, who are believed to have close ties with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, revealed that Charles' team had spent months planning the tour, hoping it would receive significant media coverage.
However, Charles was allegedly put out when Harry and Meghan went public with their relationship and simultaneously criticised the press, fearing this news would overshadow his tour.
The authors claimed that Harry gave his father a mere 20 minutes' notice before releasing a statement confirming his relationship with Meghan, reports the Mirror.
