Bill Withers’ cause of death has been revealed as cardiopulmonary arrest, according to reports. The Lean On Me icon died 30 March at the age of 81, with earlier reports citing he’d suffered from heart complications.

According to his death certificate, obtained by TMZ, the soul singer’s immediate cause of death was listed as cardiopulmonary arrest, but it was also noted he had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and arrhythmia.

Withers died at 10:44 AM at Providence Tarzana Regional Medical Center and was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
