Leading academic's son dies at university halls after 'severe anxiety' during lockdown

The son of a leading Cambridge academic died at his university halls after suffering from "severe anxiety" during a campus lockdown, according to his dad.

The 19-year-old student, named by his family as promising football star Finn Kitson, was found dead at the University of Manchester's Fallowfield campus.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious. The University of Manchester, where there have been more than 1,000 cases in the last four weeks alone, shifted to online learning earlier this month.

The city's other university, Manchester Metropolitan, have put students on a formal lockdown. The boy's father, economist at Cambridge University's business school Cambridge Judge, Michael Kitson, has criticised the university for giving
