Dozens of demonstrators, some allegedly carrying shields and wearing gas masks, descended upon a portion of the city surrounding Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct shortly after 9 p.m., police said in a Wednesday summary of events.  They were reportedly protesting Wisconsin District Attorney Michael Graveley's decision not to bring charges against Kenosha Officer Rusten Sheskey, who allegedly shot Blake seven times during a domestic disturbance call Aug.

Progressive and Democratic lawmakers slammed the Kenosha County district attorney's decision on Tuesday not to file criminal charges against Rusten Sheskey, a White police officer who shot 29-year-old Black man Jacob Blake in the back seven times while responding to a domestic disturbance call in August. "It is my decision now that no Kenosha law enforcement officer will be charged with any criminal offense based on the facts and laws," Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley told reporters in a news conference Tuesday.

A Wisconsin prosecutor announced Tuesday that he will not file criminal charges against a white police officer who shot a Black man in the back in Kenosha last summer, leaving him paralyzed and setting off sometimes violent protests in the city.

Blake's three young children were in the back seat.

The Washington Post is under fire for falsely reporting that Jacob Blake was "unarmed" during his altercation with Kenosha, Wis. police.  Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley announced during a news conference on Tuesday that the officers involved in the August shooting of Blake will not be charged.  Graveley said Blake was armed with a knife that was not visible in the video footage and admitted to having one during the incident.

Wisconsin Gov.Tony Evers has mobilized 500 National Guard members to Kenosha in anticipation of a decision on whether prosecutors will charge the police officer who shot Jacob Blake last year.  The Guardsmen will assist local law enforcement authorities in an effort to prevent the kind of riots and unrest that gripped the city for several days after the Aug. 23  shooting.The troops will protect infrastructure and other facilities.  "We are continuing to work with our local partners in the Kenosha area to ensure they have the state support they need, just as we have in the past," Evers, a Democrat, said in a statement.

A man who was injured and the family of a protester who died after being shot allegedly by Kyle Rittenhouse during demonstrations in Kenosha over the summer are now seeking $20 million in damages from the Wisconsin city, its county and law enforcement. Gaige Grosskreutz, 26, and the parents of Anthony Huber announced their intent to sue in recently issued claim notices, which typically precede lawsuits against local governments, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.  "We believe there was some level of negligence on behalf of the city and county," Grosskreutz’s attorney, Kimberly Motley, told the newspaper.  Joseph Rosenbaum, also a protester, was killed in the shooting as well.
