The Ukrainian Klitschko brothers rose to the top of world boxing as fearsome heavyweights. Each of the brothers took part in major matches and are regarded as some of the finest fighters in the division's history.

Vitali, 50, is the older of the two, born five years ahead of Wladimir, 45.Between them, they took on some huge fights. Wladimir holds the record for the longest consecutive heavyweight title reign of all time and held the unified WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring magazine titles. With an excellent record of 64 from 69 with 53 knockouts, he battled against the likes of Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and David Haye.Vitali, meanwhile, won 45 fights in 47, 41 through knockout.

He fought the likes of Lennox Lewis, Dereck Chisora and Chris Arreola. But since retiring from boxing in 2013 he made an unusual career move, one that places him right at the heart of the hideous and heartbreaking situation in Ukraine.

After retiring, Vitali was given the title of ‘Champion Emeritus’, meaning he could challenge a new champion if he wants to resume boxing. But discussing if a return to the sport was likely, he said: "That is something I currently cannot imagine."My focus is on politics in Ukraine and I feel the people there need me."His decision came as Ukrainians protested the pro-Russian president at the time, Viktor Yanukovych.
