Lycans Martial Arts Academy in Kilmarnock is offering free Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training for women and teenagers this month. The gym, located at Holmquarry Road, offers more than 40 classes per month, including morning and weekend sessions.David Sharp, head coach with a black belt under Marcos Nardini, said: "We're offering free training to women and teenagers because we believe that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has transformative potential, especially for currently underrepresented groups like women and teenagers. "By offering free training, we're creating an inclusive space where they can discover the empowering benefits of martial arts: confidence-building, self-defence skills, and improved physical fitness."Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is invaluable for women and teenagers as it equips them with practical self-defence skills, fosters confidence and empowerment, promotes physical fitness and mental resilience, and offers a supportive community.

Additionally, it plays a vital role in keeping teenagers off the street and out of trouble by providing a positive outlet for their energy and curiosity.David, 30, added: "As a small business deeply rooted in our local community, we appreciate the support given to us and enjoy giving something back where possible.

Those who take us up on this offer are welcome to attend any of the classes in our current timetable."For anyone who doesn’t meet the criteria, we have an upcoming beginners course that you can find more information about on our social media."The offer began at the start of May and has already seen a handful of women and teenagers enjoying training with Lycans Martial Arts Academy.
