dailystar.co.ukKate Garraway's husband Derek Draper has secretly flown abroad for a ground-breaking medical trial after his long battle with Covid.The Good Morning Britain presenter jetted off with her husband on the 11,000-mile trip to Mexico.A world-renowned US doctor had contacted the 54-year-old after seeing her documentary about Derek, also 54, on TV.
Derek has received treatment at a specialist clinic in Monterrey.He is due to return next month for another 28-day stay as doctors continue to monitor his brain, liver and lung function.Derek first became ill with Covid and was admitted to hospital in March 2020 and stayed there for over a year after being placed in a medically induced coma.Currently, he remains bed-bound and needs around-the-clock care but Kate said he is desperate to get better.Speaking about the treatment, the mum-of-two told The Sun how planning the trip took weeks.She said: “When I told Derek about this place he was excited.
He is just so desperate to get better - he will do anything he can to make that happen."The ITV presenter admitted she doesn't want to cause false hope for her husband and people who ask about how he is.She continued: "I think actually there’s a huge amount of hope for him to improve.
