Liverpool look set to miss out on Aurelien Tchouameni despite reports that Jurgen Klopp made a personal phone call to the Frenchman.The Reds were thought to be leading the race for the Monaco midfielder ahead of the summer, but now Real Madrid have agreed to sign the Frenchman for £85million.
Liverpool have been targeting a midfielder for some time, but they will have to look elsewhere as Tchouameni closes in on a move to Los Blancos.According to Fabrizio Romano, the player only wanted to sign for Madrid despite proposals from Liverpool and Paris Saint Germain.
And Liverpool's approach even involved a phone call between Klopp and the midfielder.Klopp reportedly called the Frenchman as he began to weigh up his options, but after consideration, it was only ever Madrid that appealed to Tchouameni.
This was despite PSG offering the highest amount of money to sign him.But ironically it was in Paris that Tchouameni agreed to join Madrid, before they played Liverpool in the Champions League final.
