The former United boss said his old side had benefitted from good fortune at various points this season to find themselves in with a chance of securing Champions League football next season.
United are 19 games unbeaten in all competitions and although they remain fifth with two games to go they have Champions League qualification in their own hands as they travel to Leicester City, currently fourth, on the final day of the season.Mourinho could do United a favour this weekend, with Spurs hosting Leicester on Sunday.
