Jennifer Lopez’s production company scored a big win this week after a lawsuit brought on by Samantha Barbash, who is the inspiration for Lopez’s 2019 “Hustlers” character, was thrown out of court.
On Tuesday, federal Judge Denise Cote in the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York dismissed the $40 million lawsuit filed by Barbash against the Lopez-owned Nuyorican Productions, STX Entertainment, Gloria Sanchez Productions and Pole Sisters LLC over claims the company “exploited” her likeness and her story without her permission. "The defendants’ May 29, 2020, motion to dismiss is granted.The Clerk of Court shall enter judgment for the defendants and close the case," the documents read, according to Entertainment Weekly.
