Two of America's leading media figures have voiced their support for former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan following the 55-year-old's shock departure from the show in the aftermath of his Meghan Markle comments.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper and former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly have praised Piers for his actions and say he has been treated unfairly.

Piers' comments towards Meghan led to 41,000 complaints by viewers to Ofcom but Jake said that the complaints were "insanity". "This is what happens when you live in a country where there is no First amendment.

Insanity," the 51-year-old said. His views however were met with dismay by Twitter users, which prompted him to tell them tweet: "Ok UK friends, we disagree.
